The Basics
PRP which stands for Platelet–Rich Plasma uses your own platelets in your blood to restore and stimulate collagen, which is the protein responsible for keeping tissue and muscles tight and strong, these platelets have growth factors that may help in the healing process of chronic injuries. PRP therapy is most commonly used to restore your hair, facial rejuvenation, hand rejuvenation, scar treatment, acne treatment, and can be to promote healing of injuries tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints, among others.
The procedure
First a small amount of blood is taken from your arm; second, with strict aseptic technique your blood is putting in a tube which has a patented separator gel technology to isolate the platelets while eliminating the undesirable components such as red blood cells and inflammatory white blood cells, and after being centrifuged, the activated platelets are injected under the abnormal tissue, releasing growth factors that recruit and increase the proliferation of reparative cells creating new collagen to help skin texture.
It only takes about 30 to 40 minutes. It’s not painful but numbing cream can be applied
Post-procedure
You will experience a mild discomfort at the injection site when the PRP is injected. The area treated will usually swell, lasting between a few hours to 2 days, and you may experience some bruising.
Results
While the initial results are impressive displaying a minimized pore size, tightened skin and an overall glow, the entire process can take months to peak. You will continue to see improvement in the skins texture and tone for the next 8 months as more collagen and keratin builds under the skin. The results typically last 2 years or longer and the best part is it’s a fragment of the cost of a surgical facelift. It’s a safe, natural solution to aging.
